Remember Your Roots: This is Your Homecoming
“Focus on who you are and what you’ve built,
not on what you’d planned on being or what you expected to have.
Trust that the present moment however difficult,
however different from what you’d imagined
has something to teach you.”
~~ Maggie Smith
Greetings to all my precious people!!
We are in the middle of January, the coldest month of the year in the Northern Hemisphere. This is the deep yin of Winter, when Nature shows us the ancient patterns and cycles of the Earth. It is a time of quiet, a time of repose, a season of reflection and incubation. Nature is gathering up resources, from the soil, from our dreams, from the inspiration of conversations, or music, or poetry. We are in the midst of opportunities—to shed what no longer serves us, to lean into the callings of our heart and soul. continue reading
RESTORE Your Self
“This magnificent refuge is inside you.
Enter. Shatter the darkness that shrouds the doorway…
Be bold. Be humble.
Put away the incense and forget
the incantations they taught you.
Ask no permission from the authorities.
Close your eyes and follow your breath
to the still place that leads to the
invisible path that leads you Home.”
~ St. Theresa of Avila
Greetings to all my precious people!
We are on the brink of a New Year, with all the excitement and anticipation that comes from imagining the changes we can create in the Present and Future times of Life. This is also the ‘in-between’ space—the days after the gatherings, the days before our return to the regular rhythms of work and schedules of our daily life. This place of betwixt and between can be filled with silence and solitude, with creativity, with moments of “suppose and what if” that can spark our imagination and reveal the secrets of our closely held dreams and desires. But we must take the time to sit with our own Self and allow the treasures to unfold. continue reading
A New Year for YIRAH
“To everything, there is a season, and a time for every purpose under heaven.”
~~ Ecclesiastes 3:1
Greetings to all my precious people!!
It is the sacred time—the end of one year and the beginning of another. The ancient cycle of birth, death, and rebirth is on display with all the beauty Nature can highlight, and we are reminded that indeed, to everything, there is a season. continue reading
The Soul of The Solstice
Around me the trees stir in their leaves
and call out, “Stay awhile.”
The light flows from their branches.
And they call again,
“It’s simple,” they say,“and you too have come
into the world to do this, to go easy, to be filled
with light, and to shine.
~Mary Oliver~
Greetings to all my precious people!!
We are in the midst of transition to Winter, the time of deep reflection, inward movement and incubation. For those of us living in the Northern Hemisphere, the Winter Solstice will occur on Saturday December 21st, marking the shortest day and the longest night of the year. This cycle of Nature has arrived consistently throughout millennia, reflecting the natural rhythm of the Universe that is also part of our own rhythms as human beings made of stardust. continue reading
Embrace Your Inner Light
“There is a crack in everything, that’s how the light gets in.”
~~ Leonard Cohen
Greetings to all my precious people!!
The final Full Moon of the year will grace the night sky on Sunday, December 15, and its luminous presence will invite us to pause and reflect. Known as the Full Cold Moon, as well as the Frost Moon or Winter Moon, it gets the name from the Mohawk tribe, according to the Old Farmer’s Almanac. This Moon represents just how cold the winter months can get. It is also called the Long Night Moon, since it is close to the Winter Solstice of December 21, which is the day with the fewest hours of daylight. continue reading
