Warm Red Date, Longan & Ginger Tea Recipe

A classic TCM tonic tea to strengthen Qi and Blood, warm the interior, and calm the Shen (Spirit) — perfect for chilly October evenings. 

In TCM, red dates (jujubes) tonify Spleen Qi and nourish Blood, longan fruit strengthens the Heart and calms the mind, while ginger disperses cold and supports digestion. This tea also soothes emotional tension as the days grow shorter.

Nutritionally, it’s packed with vitamin C, antioxidants, and natural compounds that support blood circulation, calm the nervous system, and promote warmth.

Ingredients (Serves 2):

  • 6 dried red dates, pitted
  • 10 dried longan fruits
  • 3–4 slices fresh ginger
  • 3 cups water
  • Optional: raw honey to taste

Instructions:

  1. Combine dates, longans, and ginger in a pot with water.
  2. Bring to a boil, reduce to simmer for 20 minutes.
  3. Strain and sweeten with honey if desired.
  4. Serve warm.
