Turkey & Avocado Lettuce Wraps Recipe

These wraps are a refreshing, low-carb, high-protein meal that’s perfect for warmer months. This dish is light yet satisfying, providing a balance of lean protein, healthy fats, and fresh vegetables to keep you feeling energized without feeling heavy. Wrapped in crisp romaine lettuce, these wraps offer hydration, fiber, and cooling properties, making them a perfect meal for summer when the body craves lighter foods. 

From a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) perspective, these wraps are designed to nourish Qi and Blood, support digestion, and clear excess heat:

  • Turkey is warm in nature and an excellent Qi and Blood tonic, supporting the Spleen and Stomach to improve digestion and helping to build strength and energy levels.
  • Avocado is neutral and slightly cooling, helping to moisten dryness in the body while supporting Lung and Spleen Yin. It’s also rich in healthy fats, which lubricate the intestines and support brain function.
  • Lettuce is cooling and hydrating, which helps to clear excess heat, support digestion, and promote detoxification. It is ideal for balancing internal heat during summer months.
  • Hummus (made from chickpeas and tahini) is neutral and slightly warming, making it a great source of plant-based protein and fiber while helping to nourish the Spleen and support digestion.
  • Cherry tomatoes are slightly cooling and help to generate fluids, clear heat, and nourish the Blood, making them an excellent summer food for hydration and skin health.

Ingredients:

  • 4 large romaine lettuce leaves
  • 4 slices roasted turkey breast
  • ½ avocado, sliced
  • 2 tbsp hummus
  • ½ cup cherry tomatoes, halved

Instructions

  1. Lay out lettuce leaves and spread hummus on each one.
  2. Add turkey slices and avocado slices.
  3. Top with cherry tomatoes.
  4. Wrap tightly and serve immediately.
