We Are The Volcanoes

“We are volcanoes.

When we women offer our experience as our truth,

as human truth, all the maps change.

There are new mountains.”

~~ Ursula K. Le Guin

Greetings to all my precious people!!

We are volcanoes. What an amazing statement to proclaim!

Not flowers. Not gentle streams. Not soft background music while men do the important work.

Volcanoes.

Powerful. Disruptive. World-changing.

And for too long, we’ve been taught to keep the pressure down. To stay dormant. To never let the truth erupt.

But the Fire Horse year doesn’t allow dormancy.

It arrived on February 17th (six weeks ago), and if you’ve been feeling the intensity – the demand to be authentic, to speak truth, to stop performing – that’s Fire Horse energy.

And it’s calling the volcano in you to ERUPT.

The Maps Must Change

Ursula K. Le Guin – visionary science fiction writer, feminist icon – knew something essential:

When women offer our experience as truth, the maps change.

Not just personal maps. THE maps.

The maps that tell us:

  • How power works (domination vs. collaboration)
  • What leadership looks like (control vs. wisdom-keeping)
  • How bodies should be (perfect vs. truthful)
  • What matters (achievement vs. care)
  • Who gets to speak (men vs. everyone)

These maps were drawn by people who never asked women what we experienced.

And so the maps are wrong.

They leave out entire mountain ranges. The mountains of women’s lived wisdom. The mountains of body knowing. The mountains of cyclical truth.

When we speak—when we erupt—new mountains appear.

And the maps must be redrawn.

What I’ve Witnessed in 20 Years

Here’s what I know from working with women’s bodies for nearly two decades:

Women carry volcanic truth.

The truth of:

  • What our bodies know (symptoms as information, cycles as teachers)
  • What our families need (before crisis, during chaos, after loss)
  • What our workplaces need (collaboration, care, sustainable pace)
  • What the world needs (less domination, more listening)

But we’ve been taught that our truth doesn’t matter.

That we’re “too emotional.” Too sensitive. Too much. Not enough.

So we silence ourselves. We keep the volcano dormant. We apologize for the pressure building inside.

Until the body forces the eruption:

Through illness. Through breakdown. Through rage we can no longer contain. Through symptoms that scream what words couldn’t say.

The volcano WILL erupt. The only question is: on your terms or the body’s?

The Fire Horse Demands Eruption

The Fire Horse year is rare. It comes once every 60 years (last was 1966, next will be 2086).

Fire Horse energy is intense:

  • Passionate
  • Uncontainable
  • Demanding of authenticity
  • Intolerant of pretense
  • Requires bold action

Women born in Fire Horse years are considered “too much” by traditional cultures. Too strong. Too independent. Too fiery. Ungovernable.

Which is exactly what the world needs right now.

The old maps aren’t working. The old ways—domination, control, silencing, performing—are crumbling.

Fire Horse energy says: SPEAK YOUR TRUTH. ERUPT. CHANGE THE MAPS.

Speaking From the Volcano

But here’s what I want you to understand:

Eruption doesn’t mean violence. It means TRUTH.

When you speak from the volcano—from the pressure that’s been building, from the wisdom your body carries, from the lived experience that rewrites maps—you’re not destroying.

You’re creating.

New mountains. New landscapes. New possibilities.

This is what happens when:

  • You finally speak the truth in your relationship (even if it’s uncomfortable)
  • You set the boundary at work (even if others don’t like it)
  • You say NO (even if you’ve always said yes)
  • You ask for what you need (even if you were taught not to be greedy)
  • You express your anger (even if nice girls don’t get mad)
  • You claim your desires (even if good women are supposed to be selfless)
  • You stop performing and start BEING (even if it makes others uncomfortable)

This is volcanic truth. And it changes everything.

The Invitation: Erupt With Me

I’m building something.

Not just a practice. Not just a newsletter. A MOVEMENT.

A gathering of volcanic women who are done being dormant.

Women who:

  • Trust their bodies over cultural conditioning
  • Speak truth even when they’re not believed
  • Stop fixing and start listening
  • Know they’re already whole (not broken)
  • Are ready to change the maps

I’m creating spaces for this:

Workshop: Beyond the Fix-It Trap (in-person, coming soon) – Where we practice erupting safely. Where we witness each other’s volcanic truth. Where we become the community that supports emergence.

1:1 C.O.A.C.H. Intensive – Where we excavate what’s been suppressed. Where we learn to speak from the volcano. Where we midwife the truth that’s been trying to erupt.

Monthly Circles (coming) – Ongoing community. Women gathering. Holding space for each other’s volcanoes. Building the new maps together.

This is the work.

Not individual healing in isolation.

Collective transformation in community.

We’re approaching April. Spring is fully here. The Fire Horse year is six weeks old. And your volcano is ready.

Maybe you’ve been feeling it:

  • The pressure to speak truth
  • The intolerance for pretense
  • The demand for authenticity
  • The rage at what you’ve been accepting
  • The knowing that something must change

This isn’t breakdown. This is BREAKTHROUGH.

This is the volcano preparing to erupt.

And when you do—when you offer your experience as truth, as human truth—all the maps change.

New mountains appear.

And you become ungovernable, undeniable, essential.

Welcome to the eruption, Wisdom Keeper.

P.S. Ursula K. Le Guin also wrote: “The only thing that makes life possible is permanent, intolerable uncertainty: not knowing what comes next.” The volcano doesn’t know what happens after eruption. It just knows it must speak. Trust that. Speak anyway. The new maps will reveal themselves.
